Leonard Chess changed the face of modern music, and he did so without playing a note. An immigrant living in Chicago just as the city was exploding with new blues sounds, he heard what few others did at the time: the universal passion in the music of performers like Etta James, Muddy Waters and Bo Diddley, who all rose to fame thanks to Chess. At first with a nightclub and then with his legendary record label, Leonard Chess earned his place in American cultural history. This is his story, the real story, and it rocks.

Loved, loved, loved the music. Shows how music is a bridge between generations. Better than Cadillac Records. And captured the time period perfectly. Rock on!
Best edited film I've ever seen! No 'dead' moments. It moved as deftly and dynamically as the well written and performed songs in the film. Brings back very fond memories. Thanks for making me feel so young again. Danced in the aisle!
Truly enjoyable, but too much unnecessary swearing, and apparently they only knew one swear phrase! Also, I don't care about the white guy who made black guys famous. I care about the artists with the talent.
